Da Liu Ren does not start with a memorized verdict. Set the month general and divination hour, build the Heaven and Earth plates, trace how the four lessons produce the three transmissions, then add the generals and host-guest relation to the same event sequence.

Set the month general and divination hour
The month general normally changes with Zhongqi intervals and is not simply the lunar month branch. The divination hour is the explicit time of the question or event; together they establish the plates.

Build the plates and four lessons
The plates establish twelve-branch relations. The four lessons are derived through the day stem lodging palace, day branch, and their upper spirits before a starting transmission can be selected.

Follow the first, middle, and final transmissions
The three transmissions describe progression. The twelve heavenly generals and host-guest relation refine the context; they do not replace the lesson and transmission structure.
Yi-Hai day, Chen hour, and the Chou month general
The site example uses an 乙亥 day, 辰 hour, and 大吉丑 month general. Under the tool's daytime-nobleman rule, 子 is selected; after the nobleman is placed over the 卯 Earth-plate branch, direction is determined from that placement and the fixed sequence from Nobleman through Heavenly Empress is checked palace by palace.
