Chinese Auspicious Dates: How to Read Huangli
Read Huangli activity labels, lunar dates and zodiac clashes. Use a worked moving-day example to compare dates without mistaking a score for a prediction.
Choose the activity first, then read both the suitable and unsuitable lists in Huangli. A day labelled Huang Dao is not automatically suitable for a wedding or move. Broad restrictions such as 诸事不宜 still need to be considered.

A Gregorian–lunar conversion tells you where a date falls in the Chinese calendar. Huangli adds traditional activity labels, stem-branch names and other interpretations. The Hong Kong Observatory conversion tables are a reference for calendar dates, not an endorsement of a wedding or business forecast.
This matters when searching for a Chinese auspicious date: an accurate lunar date does not, by itself, answer whether a particular event is suitable. Read the activity-specific information after confirming the date.
The Chinese labels you will see in the tool
Lingtai’s date-selection results retain Chinese almanac terms. Use the table to distinguish the activity lists from broad day labels. Moving home can involve several different activities; do not assume that one familiar English word corresponds to every Chinese label.

Worked example: checking a moving-day candidate
We checked 13 September 2026 with the activity 搬家, moving home. This is a demonstration, not a recommendation for a real household. The underlying almanac lists 解除, 坏垣 and 馀事勿取 under suitable activities, and 诸事不宜 under unsuitable activities. Its day spirit is 青龙, marked 黄道.
The apparent conflict is the lesson: neither 移徙 nor 入宅 is listed as suitable, and a broad restriction is present. Calling it a good moving day just because it says 黄道 would omit the information most relevant to the question.

Compare practical candidates before applying traditional preferences
Start with dates that work for the people, venue and deadlines involved. Compare two or three feasible candidates using the same activity label, and keep the original suitable and unsuitable lists beside the result. If you change the event, check it again.
A general almanac does not contain every participant’s birth chart. A zodiac clash label and a personalised BaZi comparison are different things. Neither replaces practical arrangements, contract terms or professional advice where needed.

Open Huangli for the day’s calendar information. Use the auspicious-date tool for an activity-based check. Keep a short record of the Gregorian date, intended activity, original labels and your practical constraints so you can understand why a candidate was kept or rejected.
